Fine Art Printmaking BA (Hons)
From 4 to 9 June 2011, exhibits from
more than 500 students will transform
the Faculty of Arts' Grand Parade campus into the biggest gallery in the south-
east of the UK.
With two buildings and three-floors of gallery space to explore, over 15,000 visitors will discover the work of the class of 2011: perhaps taking the opportunity to commission work or compile a collection before students emerge as leading lights in their chosen discipline.
The foundation of my work lies in drawing, realised through lithography. My main focus being on twentieth century utilitarian housing blocks, miniature worlds condensed in a geometrical form. Perhaps, these are the ruined constructions of a lost civilization or just the humdrum, made interesting with shapes and line, yet retaining the organic within the abstract.
I am interested in softening these bleak and stark huge urban precast concrete blocks but keeping in mind their rawness, surface roughness- urban feel but not forgetting that these are homes for living.
